The complications of using certain technology during divorce

In recent years, both members of the media and numerous legal professionals have warned individuals who are divorcing to be very wary of certain forms of technology. For example, attorneys are increasingly turning to social media in order to obtain evidence related to their clients’ divorce cases. When this occurs, your pictures, posts and even your relationship status may be used against you in your divorce or your child custody dispute.

Has divorce become the healthiest option for you?

It can be difficult to decide whether or not to divorce your spouse. A recent study indicates that the average American spends 18 months contemplating divorce before actually filing a divorce claim. This trend strongly suggests that many individuals question whether or not divorce is the best option for them long before they opt to move on in life alone.

You can be a great parent, even if you had poor role models

Father’s Day and Mother’s Day often make people contemplate the relationships that they either had, have or did not have with their own parents and the relationships that they do or do not have with their own children. It can be particularly difficult to contemplate these relationships if you did not have positive relationships with your own parent(s) and therefore doubt your ability to have positive relationships with your children. Thankfully, humans have the ability to make different choices than their parents made. Even if you primarily parent your child though child support as opposed to primary custody and/or a great deal of parenting time, you can have positive relationships with your own child even if your parenting role models were poor ones.

Co-parents, summer vacation is almost here

Within the next two weeks, children all over Ohio and throughout the nation will officially be on summer vacation from school. For many families, this time of year is particularly complex. Many parents continue to work throughout the summer months and many families are forced to deal with the summer schedules of two households instead of one.

Preparing for a divorce deposition

Just as every marriage is unique, every divorce is unique in its own ways as well. Each couple opting to divorce brings its own values, priorities and circumstances to the table. Sometimes it is easy for a couple to mediate their divorce. Other times, important property and/or child custody issues make it important for a couple to litigate the divorce process.
